Platter Support

Nothing shows on my desktop.

Open Music and play a song. Platter draws the record once something is playing. Check that "Show on Desktop" is on in the Platter menu (the record-adapter icon at the right of the menu bar).

macOS asked whether Platter can control Music.

Choose Allow. Platter reads the current track and only changes playback, or favorites a song, when you press its own controls. To change your answer later: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Automation › Platter.

The artwork is wrong or missing.

Platter looks the album up by name. Tracks without an artist or album, and very new or obscure releases, may show a blank sleeve. The artwork updates within a few seconds of a track change.

The star or the share button is missing.

The star appears only for Music, not Spotify. The share button appears when the song is found in the Apple Music catalog; local files and unreleased tracks have no link to share.

I can't see Platter in my MacBook's menu bar.

On notched MacBooks macOS hides menu bar items when the bar is full. Platter is still running; use an external display or remove other menu bar items.

How do I change the room, the time of day or the backdrop?

From the Platter menu, or choose Customize… there for a window with a live preview and pictures of every option.

How do I quit, or stop it launching at login?

Both are in the Platter menu in the menu bar.
