What Notice does with your voice
When you hold the talk button, your phone turns your speech into text using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The text goes to an open language model running on your phone's own processor. Nothing you say, and nothing Notice says back, is sent to any server run by us or by anyone else.
What is stored
The conversation is kept in one file on your phone, protected by your device's encryption, so Notice can remember what you talked about. You can read it in the Memory tab, which opens only after Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode and locks again whenever you leave the app, and erase all of it with Forget everything. Deleting the app deletes it too. It is never backed up to iCloud or synced anywhere.
The language model
Notice downloads a model you choose from Hugging Face, a public repository of open models. That download is the only time the app uses the internet, apart from checking Hugging Face for newer weights when you ask it to. Hugging Face sees the request the way any website sees a download; we send them nothing about you. The model files live on your phone and run there.
The Notice device and Apple Watch
If you pair a Notice device, audio travels between it and your phone over Bluetooth and nowhere else. If you use the watch app, audio travels from the watch to your phone over Apple's device-to-device connection. In both cases the processing happens on the phone as described above.
What we collect
Nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting to us, and no tracking of any kind. We have no server that could receive your data.
Permissions
Microphone, to hear you while you hold the button. Speech recognition, which on your device runs locally. Bluetooth, to talk to the Notice device. You can withdraw any of these in Settings; the app explains what stops working.
Children
Notice is not for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version ships with an app update and the date above changes.
